In November 2009, Sheriff Dwight Diehl initiated a Traffic Unit with the Cass County Sheriff's Office. Cass County
had 5,451 motor vehicle crashes from 2006 to 2008. Cass County is ranked 14th out of 114 counties in the State of
Missouri for the number of injury and fatal crashes.
There are currently 2 deputies assigned to the Traffic Unit. The deputies primary responsibility is to enforce traffic laws on Cass County roadways.
The deputies will take reports on motor vehicle crashes within Cass County. The deputies will provide public
education to drivers about safe operation of vehicles. The deputies will also support the Patrol Division in day to day operations at the Sheriff's Office.
