Deputy James Copeland

End Of Watch:
01-22-1866

Shot and killed while attempting to arrest a man wanted for murder. Deputy Holmes read the warrant to the suspect and as he finished the suspect fired his weapon instantly killing Deputy Holmes. Deputy Copeland fired and shot the subject, who then returned fire striking Deputy Copeland in the lungs.

Deputy Kevin Mayse

End Of Watch:
06-12-1995

Deputy Mayse died from head injuries resulting from a vehicle pursuit on June 10,1995. Mayse was pursuing another vehicle when his Jeep skidded off the roadway and struck a tree. The accident occurred at 11:50 pm on a Friday night on 171st Street about a half mile west of Holmes Road. Mayse, 34, and his wife were expecting their third child in July.

May the memories of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice never fade.
