On Saturday May 3rd, The Cass County Honor Guard joined other law enforcement personnel from around
the state to pay our respects to our fallen officers. The surviving family members were escorted to the
memorial by these officers to remind them that they are never alone. This sombering event was also
attended by Governor Matt Blunt and Attorney General Jay Nixon who both made speeches on behalf of law
enforcement. Due to an unforeseen circumstance, the family of Deputy Kevin Mayse was unable to attend,
however a single white Carnation was placed on the memorial in his memory.
