Subject Wanted for Child Abduction

Cass Co. – The Cass County is trying to find a 35 year old Carthage man and his 22 month old son.

On Friday August 31st 35 year old Eldon L Masters Jr. of Carthage MO. picked his son, 22 month old Zachary N. Masters at 104 Trinity Circle, Harrisonville, Missouri and was to return Zachary on 09-03-07 in the afternoon but failed to do so. The mother Karina Mayo has not had any contact with Mr. Masters until Tuesday when she was contact by Mr. Masters’ mother who advised Zachary was okay but had no other information. The Carthage Police Department located an address for Mr. Masters and at the Daisey Court Motel in Carthage. An employee at the Daisey Motel advised the Carthage Police Department that Mr. Master is paid up till Friday, 09-07-07 but they have not seen Mr. Masters for two days when he was last seen walking down the street holding a male child and left the area with unknown white female in a van with two children. Witnesses at the motel said Mr. Masters has not seen for three days.

A Cass County Judge issued a warrant for Eldon Laray Masters Jr. 08-07-1972 for Class D Felony of Child Abduction bond has been set at $25,000.00.

Cass Co. – Eldon L Masters Jr. of Carthage wanted for Child Abduction is in custody. Masters wanted in the abduction of 22 month old Zachary Masters from Harrisonville turned himself into the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office around 1:00 p.m. today.

Masters who had taken Zachary on Friday for a weekend visit failed to return on Monday as scheduled. After Masters had not been seen or heard from for several days a Cass County Judge issued a warrant for his arrest.

Cass County Detectives located the subject in Douglas County Missouri, southwest of Springfield, and negotiated his surrender to authorities there. Twenty-two month old Zachary was returned to his mother unharmed. Eldon Masters is awaiting extradition back to Cass County.
