CASS COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE CELEBRATES NATIONAL PUBLIC SAFETY TELECOMMUNICATIONS WEEK

April 3, 2007, Harrisonville, MO – The Cass County Sheriff’s Office is celebrating the second full week of April (April 8-14) as National Public Safety Telecommunications Week. This week, sponsored by the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International and celebrated annually, honors the thousands of men and women who respond to emergency calls, dispatch emergency professionals and equipment, and render life-saving assistance to the world’s citizens.

The telecommunications professionals at the Sheriff’s Office strive to provide the highest possible quality of communication services for the agencies serving the citizens of Cass County. Communications Officers have a variety of duties. Some of the duties range from answering 9-1-1 calls, answering non-emergency calls, and giving pre-arrival medical instructions while an ambulance is responding, providing “zero-minute” rescue advice

Public Safety Communications is a team of dedicated individuals, ready to serve the public, 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

The Communications Unit handles over 70,000 telephone calls yearly. Our goal is to handle each and every call as rapidly and accurately as possible. The Cass County Commissioners have recognized National Public Safety Telecommunications Week and honored the Sheriff’s Office Communications Officers by releasing an official Proclamation.
