Sheriff Deputy Saves Baby Born in Gas Station
On Saturday morning around 2:00 am the Cass County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a woman crying in the bathroom of Jazzi Mart at 21400 E. 275th street, south of Harrisonville. Deputy Robyn Burger was advised while responding to the call that the woman had just delivered a baby. Deputy Burger arrived three minutes later and found the baby turning purple and was not breathing or responsive. With the assistance of instructions from Communications Officer John Bristow via the phone, Deputy Burger began giving the infant rescue breaths.
By the time EMS arrived approximately three minutes later Deputy Burger was able to restore the infant’s breathing and the infant was responsive. The mother, Christine Brown and child were transported to an area hospital.
Due to Deputy Burger and Communication Officer Bristow’s actions they were able to save the life of a baby girl. The baby girl born 10 weeks premature is still hospitalized in good condition at an area hospital. Mrs. Brown was released and is at home in Butler, Mo.
